The fabricated reports claim that a son of Umar rA raped a woman (nauzubillah) while intoxicated, and Umar flogged him publicly, and that he succumbed to the last lash.

I’ve heard that Umar RA himself lashed his son because by virtue of his authority as Khalifa the executioner might have hit Abu Sahmah hard enough, so he decided to punish his son himself and Abu Sahamah passed away before he could even take alll 100 lashes as Umar RA hit him with all his power and energy so nobody in future could question his honesty.
